high hopes, decent follow through

high hopes, decent follow through

I just finished up Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for 360 as anti-reg and now i’m going back through on pro. I must say I wasn’t as satisfied with the game as, well, let’s say Batman: Arkham Asylum but it was enjoyable nonetheless. The new characters announced though…kinda smeh about. I fucking hate Carnage and Cable. Also getting Black Panther, Psylocke and Magneto though. Could be cool. Fingers crossed.

finally got its first review (that i’ve seen at least) from IGN. BrĂ¼tal Legend, starring Jack Black and made by Tim Schafer, got a 9.0 which means it’s outstanding! Beyond stoked.

if you haven’t seen this movie, you need to, pronto. so good it’s ridiculous. comedy, action, a hot girl and excellent cinematography and direction. fresh as fuck. Possibly the best zombie movie ever starring Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland), Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone (Superbad), and Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine). Directed by Ruben Fleischer. Cameo by the great Bill Murray.

and in case you didn’t know, fuck is ultra fresh.

keep your eyes (and ears) open

October 11, 2009 - Leave a Response

if you live in the L.A. (or surrounding) area I suggest you keep your eyes open for some of the best improv you can see. if you’re a nerd, geek, or any other sort of pop culture whore you’ll recognize mostly everyone from online shows The Guild, The Legend of Neil, and The Totally Rad Show. Felicia Day (of course) stood out as the prettiest member on stage but even then it was hard for her to stand out among the hilarious other members: Alex Albrecht, Sandeep Parikh, Jeff Lewis, Tara Perry, Tony Janning, and Brooke Sequin. They are the Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em crew!

Seriously, some hilarious shit. Everything from Pres Obama to yetis.

Reiteration: great shit.

(coming soon! pic of me and ms. Day)

new horror releases

October 10, 2009 - Leave a Response

So, check it. October is the best month for horror releases and this month we get two awesome titles available for our DVD collection. The much anticipated Michael Dougherty flick Trick ‘r Treat as well as the bloody kill-fest The Hills Run Red are both out now. Trick ‘r Treat is simply amazing, already one of my favorite horror anthologies ever, and The Hills Run Red is a promising new take on the kids go into the woods formula. Make sure to check them both out!

Definitely a treat

“Epic Mickey” looks totally…epic

Mickey getting dark and gritty

Mickey getting dark and gritty

Although the November issue of Game Informer led many to believe that a Kingdom Hearts console sequel was finally on it’s way, it’s been revealed that this is not the case. This is not necessarily a bad thing though. It seems that the game being flaunted about in the magazines pages (and many pages of the internet as well) is a fresh IP from Disney called Epic Mickey.

So who is behind the promising new project? Warren Spector, the developer and mind behind many acclaimed games, such as Deus Ex (and it’s sequel), Thief, and Wing Commander. Teamed up with Disney and Nintendo, Spector is looking to take the franchise in a bold new direction, in Epic Mickey exclusively for the Wii. The game is said to take the bright and cheery demeanor of the world of Disney we know and love and contrast it with surreal and gritty reimaginations of many forgotten Disney characters. Equipped with a paintbrush, and the ability to paint and erase levels, Mickey will be facing up against hordes of obscure characters. So far o names have been confirmed except Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and the Phantom Blot. Check some designs and the plot (thanks from Wikipedia) below.

PLOT

“The antagonists of Epic Mickey are the largely old and obscure Disney elements, including theme park rides and older cartoons. Having been forgotten, they are now trapped in a “forgotten world of broken machines and bitter personalities.” Running this world is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, one of Walt Disney‘s first creations, who has become jealous of Mickey Mouse and is seeking revenge. Oswald sends the Phantom Blot to the Disney universe, and it soon covers the world with black ink, causing the colors to run. Using a variety of artist tools, Mickey must return the Disney world to its former glory.[10] It is hinted by an article from GameInformer that the Disney character The Mad Doctor might appear in the game.”
